During a riso printing workshop organised by Quintal atelier, I had the opportunity to print a set of four feminist posters.
Playing with transparency and superposition, as riso printing allows, they present three founding texts of feminism: La déclaration des droits de la femme et de la citoyenne, written by Olympe de Gouges in 1791; L'Hymne des femmes, written in 1971 and used as an anthem by the Women's Liberation Movement; and the ‘Ain't I a woman’ speech given by Sojourner Truth in 1851. The last poster is straight-forward: the word WOMAN, repeated and superimposed.
