LA MAZIÈRE

La Mazière is a guesthouse run by Isabelle and Éric in the Cévennes, a region in the South of France. As nature lovers, they look after their property with great care, regularly adding new plantations, both local and exotic. They wanted to design a botanical trail to invite their guests to venture out onto the property, discover the trees, pick their fruit and admire their foliage.

After spending a few days at the guesthouse, soaking up the calm, bucolic atmosphere, I drew up the outline of the map together with its elements (trees, fruit, leaves, buildings, etc.). The idea was to create a colourful and pedagogical map, allowing everyone, including the youngest, to find their way around the garden, while not compromising on accuracy and richness of information.

The layout of the back side is simple and precise, letting the texts written by Isabelle take center stage.
